Be Different: My Adventures with Asperger's and My Advice for Fellow Aspergians, Misfits, Families, and Teachers
by John Elder Robison Author
Living life as a neuro-diverse person has its ups and downs when it comes to reaching your full potential. It can be beneficial in skill-building and developing talents but can lead to an uncomfortable (and therefore less successful) social life. In Be Different, the author, John Elder Robison, describes not only living as someone on the Autism spectrum, but ways he learned to cope and thrive with his unique mind. He also offers tips and tricks on how to approach your relationships, career, and life in general, answering questions like "How to identify special gifts and use them to your advantage," "How to deal with bullies," and "How to harness your powers of concentration to master difficult skills."
With a commitment to enlightening people to neuro-diversity and how to cope with neurological differences, Robison also lectures on the subject and is a member of the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee of the US Dept. of Health and Human Services. He uses his life of experience and assistance to write this book, aimed to help anyone struggling to feel less alone and able to use their strengths to live a successful life.
