Reproductive Rites: The Real-Life Witches and Witch-Hunts in the Centuries-Long Fight for Abortion
by Sophie Saint Thomas Author
This work of pop history explores witches and witch hunts, specifically within the theme of reproductive rights. For centuries, practitioners of reproductive care have been persecuted as witches. The author assesses the history and explores the diversity of communities affected and implicit in these persecutory dynamics, taking an intersectional eye to the issue itself beyond simply through the lens of witchcraft. It takes a dive into the different reactionary forces that have sought to limit the rights and liberties available to marginalized communities — also exploring the hypocrisy within these groups, such as eugenicists, Republican figures and legislators — even those that have held witchcraft of metaphysical practices.
