We Shall Not Be Moved: Posters and the Fight Against Displacement in L.A.'s Figueroa Corridor
by Tomas Benitez Author, Gilda Haas Author and Carol Wells Author
This book details how the people in LA, combining art and activism, fought against gentrification and for the safety of their communities. Grassroots organizing has the power to create real and lasting change, and art has the ability to contribute greatly to grassroots movements. Many times, people deemphasize the importance of art, believing that it can't actually promote change. We Shall Not Be Moved challenges that notion by providing examples of art from the people of LA and then discussing its significance and the role it played in the grassroots movement.
