Wangari Maathai: Founder of the Greenbelt Movement
by Ally Reeves Illustrator
Wangari Maathai, the founder of the Greenbelt Movement, worked to make the public aware of the connections between poverty, environmental degradation, resource mismanagement, malnutrition, and unemployment. Born in Kenya, she traveled around Africa encouraging villages to take it upon themselves to repair their environment, discouraging technicians and managers from outside the community from helping so as to help these villages take full stewardship of the ecology. Celebrate her legacy with this poster!
