Beaverton 2200 is Portland meets Akira, Katsuhiro Otomo's 1988 classic animated film.
This futuristic cyberpunk comic takes place in Neo-Beaverton, a city-state run by the monolithic shoe corporation of Nike. Moses Estrada, a Sanitation Technician at Cedar Hills Megaplex, struggles to pay bills while supporting his ailing mother and finds himself getting mixed up with a resistance group known as AntiNi. Moses is forced to choose between the life he's always known and the revolution on the horizon.
This story serves as a allegory of the current dialogue surrounding the issues of police brutality, racism, corporate control, and resistance.
