The Honor Code: How Moral Revolutions Happen
by Kwame Anthony Appiah Author
This book focuses on a couple central questions: "How does moral progress happen?" and "How are societies brought to repudiate immoral customs they have long accepted?" It argues that social reform has not occurred due to legislation from above but has been driven by honor. The author looks at various moral revolutions, such as the struggles against footbinding in China and the revolt against Atlantic slavery, in order to get to the root of how honor is involved in the inhumanities humans commit against each other.
