Easy Detroit Outdoors

by Amy Eckert Author

Detroit may be known for its industrial and urban landscape, but it also offers a surprising number of outdoor experiences. Visitors and locals can paddle through historic canals, cycle with thousands during Slow Roll, or explore urban gardens created from reclaimed lots. Just outside the city, U-Pick orchards, scenic rail-trails, and top-tier golf courses provide even more ways to enjoy nature. Downtown features a sandy beach in the summer and an ice-skating rink in the winter, offering year-round outdoor fun. Whether staying in the city or venturing beyond, there are plenty of ways to experience Detroit’s greener side.
