Victim F: From Crime Victims to Suspects to Survivors

by Denise Huskins Author, Aaron Quinn Author and Nicole Weisensee Egan Author

This book recounts a shocking true story of a bizarre kidnapping and the victims’ re-victimization by the justice system.

In March 2015, Denise Huskins and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn were abducted while asleep. Armed men bound and drugged them, and warned Aaron not to call the police or Denise would be killed. Aaron called 911, but instead of searching for Denise, the police accused Aaron of her murder. When Denise was released alive, the police turned their fire on her, accusing her of faking her kidnapping.

Like many sexual violence victims, they were dismissed, disbelieved, and abused. With no one to rely on except each other, they faced victim blaming, harassment, misogyny, and abuse of power in the criminal justice system. Their story sheds light on sexual assault and the abuse by law enforcement that often compounds crime victims’ suffering.
