North Pole/South Pole: Explore the Extreme Environment of the Arctic/Antarctic (A Flip Book)

by Michael Bright Author and Nic Jones Illustrator

This illustrated flip book for kids 6 to 10 introduces children to the different ecosystems of two poles. One side of the book will show what kinds of animals live in the North Pole, what the weather and climate are like, and explain the impact that climate change is having on the area, such as the impact it has had on the sea ice and how this has affected polar bears and walruses, explaining what ice floes are and life under the ice — as well as more history. Flip the book over and the book profiles the opposite side of the world, the South Pole! Kids will learn about the differences between these different parts of the world, including the presence of icebergs in the south, sub-glacial lakes, and ice chimneys, not to mention the different kinds of animals such as penguins and the deadly “death star” starfish.
