Alexander von Humboldt (Little People, Big Dreams)

by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara Author and Sally Agar Illustrator

Another installment in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, this book features Alexander von Humboldt: an acclaimed botanist and adventurer who dared to dream and learned to trust in his abilities. Alexander was naturally inquisitive as a boy (and as an adult!), but once he was in school he struggled to relate to his peers and found it difficult to see the world through the perspectives his teachers shared. Once he reached adulthood, he found his passion through collecting plants. Following this discovery, he became an explorer that travelled the world and documented many upon many species of plants. The book contains the characteristic illustration of the series and includes extras in the back, including a detailed portrait and biographical timeline, historical photos of the intrepid scientist. As opposed to the board books, this hardcover edition is intended for readers ages 4 to 7.
