Witch-Hunt: Mysteries of the Salem Witch Trials

by Marc Aronson Author and Stephanie Anderson Illustrator

Picture Salem, Massachusetts, circa 1692. Inside a plain meetinghouse, a woman resists her judges. Her accusers are a bunch of fervent young women who blamed a poor, unpopular lady whose main crime was having had a child out of wedlock. As the trial goes on, these girls start going all out - wailing, tearing their clothes, and screaming that this woman is causing them pain. Some of them even show off wounds to the horrified crowd, holding up pins that supposedly stabbed them - pins that just popped up out of nowhere. Are they putting on a show, or are they genuinely plagued by witchery?  These questions are answered in Witch-Hunt: Mysteries of the Salem Witch Trials.
