The Transfeminine Guide to Physical Transition: For Trans, Nonbinary, Other Fems
by Amelia Simone Hanrahan Author
The Transfeminine Guide to Physical Transition outlines the most common options available to transfems in the U.S. for physically transitioning. It guides readers through a process for determining what, if any, changes are right for them, and how to access the care they require. It gives an overview of the WPATH standards that determine the types of care available and it teaches readers how to navigate the gatekeeping of that care. Hormone Replacement Therapy, breast augmentation, and bottom surgery are described, illustrated, and preparation and aftercare tips are provided. The guide covers how non-medical interventions including clothes, makeup, tucking, speech feminization, language choices, and hair removal and regrowth, are important aspects of many women’s transitions and it includes tips and illustrations on how to best utilize these options. Throughout, the guide aims to provide straightforward and factual information while also utilizing an anticapitalist lens to acknowledge the classist nature of access to physical transition and trans healthcare more broadly in the United States.
