A Woman's Life Is a Human Life: My Mother, Our Neighbor, and the Journey from Reproductive Rights to Reproductive Justice

This book was published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a turning point in history looking at the two judicial victories that would change the landscape of reproductive rights in the United States. Pertinent in today’s political landscape, this book is an in-depth look at goings-on in campaigns that led to the case at the Supreme Court. Beyond fighting the criminalization of abortion, the movement covered the watershed of reproductive rights, chronicling the history of forced sterilization and the many ways women’s reproductive rights had been subverted. The story of this movement follows many actors and activists. — from Latina and Black women to progressive clergy, grassroots advocacy and work that span and precede the history of the court proceedings. This was a court case that had to see victories and efforts on all levels of community, society, and culture, that would also spur the efforts of the world for reproductive rights and justice.
