Doin' Time: Everyone Deserves a Second Chance (Australian Stories)

This book is follows the stories of nine men who got a second chance to get out of the prison system in Australia and the subsequent happenings after their second chances. Coming to terms of how they they reached their positions in life, the effects of their upbringing and the consequences of their actions, they overcome obstacles to reintegrate and become members of their communities once more. The stories lead to places where these men now work with vulnerable populations, including youth, giving back and making a positive impact on those around them.

Alongside these stories, people who work in Australia’s criminal justice system analyze the risk factors and societal contributors that destabilize the lives of youth and lead them to paths into carceral systems. The contrast this with the people, groups and organizations that then look to heal the people who go through these experiences and reconnect them with community.
