Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well
It's easy to give someone some golden advice or a piece of your mind, but much harder to hear it. This book is incredibly helpful for anyone whose life, work, or relationships could be improved by getting better at soliciting, understanding, and incorporating feedback. Feedback usually isn't delivered very well, but that doesn't mean it can't contain helpful information, either about your actions or your relationships. Anyone who's ever gotten defensive, angry, or shut down during a performance review or after hearing unsolicited feedback from a partner, child, employee, or manager will find valuable insights in this book. The more power you have in a workplace or a relationship, the authors point out, the fewer built in chances you have to get feedback naturally, so the burden is on you to seek it out. Go forth and learn what you need to do better!
