Lupe Wong Won't Dance

Bright middle-school-aged overachiever and anti-racism activist Lupe Wong is determined to make her mark on the world as the first female pitcher in Major League baseball. And she has an opportunity to meet her hero, a fellow Chinese-Mexican pitcher for her favorite team. There's only one catch - she has to get As in all of her classes... including the dreaded square dance unit in gym class. Lupe's a memorable character and her story is both humorous and earnest, touching on themes of friendship, family, and persistence.
